Privacy Policy
This page explains what GuitarTutorial.com collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it.
Who runs this site
GuitarTutorial.com is run from Ontario, Canada. For any privacy question or request, email info@guitartutorial.com.
What we collect
- Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to see which pages are read and how people find the site. GA4 records things like the pages you view, how long you stay, the site that sent you here, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (such as country or city). Google says GA4 does not log or store IP addresses.
- Email you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. The site has no contact form.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our web host keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the time of each request) to run and protect the site.
The site has no accounts, comments, newsletter, ads or affiliate links.
Cookies
GA4 sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) so it can tell one visit from another. The site sets no other cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The lessons work the same either way.
How we use it
- To see which lessons are useful and improve them.
- To answer your email.
- To keep the site running and secure.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else receives it
Google receives the analytics data as our service provider, under its own terms and privacy policy, and may process it outside Canada, including in the United States. Our web host handles the server logs. Otherwise we share information only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, then deleted by Google. Emails are kept only as long as they are useful for answering you or fixing the site.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as Canada’s PIPEDA, Quebec’s Law 25, the EU and UK GDPR and California’s CCPA may give you the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- withdraw your consent or object to analytics;
- complain to a privacy regulator, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To make a request, email info@guitartutorial.com. The site has no accounts, so analytics data usually can’t be linked to a named person, but we will tell you what we can find.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the date below.
